Our parents started out in 1996 as “Airedale Antiques” when they opened the shop on Historic Main Street in St. Charles, Missouri. The shop was run by two silly Airedale Terriers, who were driving Mom and Dad nuts staying at home all day, so when we named the shop we brought the pooches to the store every day. What they found was that more people came to see the dogs than the antiques. One day, they got the idea to carry Airedale items – pens, shirts, bumper stickers, etc. It went over big, but our Schnauzer friends got kind of upset at not having stuff for them. So we carried Schnauzer items…but our Golden Retriever friends barked at us for not remembering them. And what about the cats? Ok, so then we expanded…and expanded…and expanded. Pretty soon, there were more dog and cat things than antiques.
One day a customer came in looking for a certain type of dog food – she called it “all-natural” – told us it was hard to find, but becoming popular. Said her dog itched less and his coat was shinier — all because of this food. Our interest was piqued! We did our research and decided to bring in the all-natural food that she had requested. And some cat food – after all, we can’t discriminate. We needed treats too, so we found a local baker who could supply the treats. This was the start of our holistic shop with its new name – Airedale Antics – after all, what pet doesn’t have its own lovable antics?
In 2007, we decided to move from St. Charles back to our native Maplewood where we lived for many years. The move was great for us! It meant allowing our friends and neighbors to have access to some of the best and healthiest holistic foods on the market for their pets. And here we are – on Manchester – one of the “main” streets in Historic Maplewood.
In 2024, we decided to re-brand and change our name to The Healthy Pet House. To this day, we remain committed to ensuring everyone has access to all-natural, healthy food and treats for their pets – without the fillers and by-products. They should be able to eat right, have natural hygiene products, and items that allow their owners to keep their pets safe, exercised, and healthy. Keeping us healthy and strong allows us to be around longer to love you, our owners!
Come in and see us soon – we can’t wait to see you!

Our Four-Pawed Community
Teddy, MauMau, and Gracie are committed to supporting their canine and feline friends in the community, a tradition started by Susie and Sammy, the original Airedales, along with Harvey and Oscar, the two cats, and further supported by Sassy and Harry (all RIP). A big part of what we do is to give back to those looking for their “forever home”. We offer space in our shop to hold meetings, meet-and-greets, and adoption days for all pet rescue groups. We rally for dog parks so our barking friends may have a chance to become more socialized. We support local pet food pantries so that the furry friends (and their owners) have enough to eat.
Healthy Pet Workshops
The better-educated consumer, the healthier the pet. Community workshops are offered by area pet experts to teach owners ways to interact with their pets via communication and other educational experiences. We believe in empowering our customers by providing easy access to the latest information on pet health and nutrition.
Go Green!
We focus on keeping Mother Nature green. This means that not only do we carry all-natural foods and treats, but also health supplements and Earth-friendly hygiene & health products. Today everyone is becoming more conscious and conscientious of Mother Earth by recycling and making a decision to live as green as possible. All natural and organic is the way the community is moving and so is the pet industry. It is important to know what we are feeding our pets and what are in the products that we use on them. We are working to expand our environmentally conscious merchandise and expand our knowledge daily. It is an important change in attitude and living.
Supporting Local Businesses
Airedale Antics supports the community by carrying many items made in St. Louis. We participate in local events – Taste of Maplewood, Let Them Eat Art, and more. We hold a $5 nail trim once a month and donate the proceeds to a local rescue. We have an awful lot of fun! All in the name of our beloved pets.
Don't just take our word for it! See why customers from St. Louis and surrounding areas choose us for their pet supply & grooming needs (including Ladue, Town and Country, Clayton, Chesterfield, Sunset Hills, Creve Coeur, Kirkwood, Richmond Heights, Brentwood, Glendale, and more)!
